Business and Marketplace.

Krakow has already been a prosperous and thriving trade centre in the Middle Ages and since the collapse of the communism and the country’s opening to the west the number of foreign investment in Krakow has constantly increased.
The city now offers attractive business opportunities primarily in the sectors of banking, industry and trade, which were joined in recent years by financial, and telecommunications services as well as IT. It hosts about 20 large multinational companies, amongst others Google, IBM, Motorola and General Electric, as well as other British and German-based firms.

60 per cent of its population is younger than 45 and the unemployment rate is with 6.9 per cent one of the lowest in Poland. Its favourable geographical location with almost 8 million people living within a radius of 100 kilometres, the young and well-educated population and the emergence of a technology park on its outskirts can be considered one of the most important reasons for Krakow exemplary economical development. Of course the tourism as another important pillar of Krakow’s economy should not be left out of consideration. Annually five million tourists come to visit this city and low cost airlines will contribute even more to the rise of this number in the nearest future.
