Poles love travelling but if they go on holiday most of them, almost 80%, will stay in Poland and enjoy their free days at the Baltic Sea, Masurian Lakes, allotment gardens, go camping and visit their relatives and friends. The most visited cities in the country are the historical sites Krakow, Gdansk and Warsaw.

Nevertheless the number of people leaving the country increases as well. Poles like to go skiing and have discovered other countries than Poland to do so. Their favourite countries to spend their skiing holiday are Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland and Italy.

Poland - Poles take advantage of the country’s variety and very often spend their holiday here. Be it the Baltic Sea in the northwest, the Masurian Lakes in the northeast or the mountains in the southwest and south of the country, Poland offers holiday opportunities for every taste. The seascape is highly popular and Poland actually has one of the highest numbers of lakes in the world. In Europe, only Finland has a greater density of lakes.

Germany - Poland’s neighbouring country Germany is also popular among Poles. Medieval castles and villages meet vibrant cities with amazing architecture alongside beautiful landscape. In Southern Germany the Alps invite to go skiing in the winter while Northern Germany offers the North Sea and the Baltic Sea to stroll along the beaches.

Slovakia - Bordering Poland in the south Slovakia is popular among skiers. Tatra and Fatra are the skiing regions which captivate with their beautiful landscape. Slovakia’s capital Bratislava does also belong to the number one destinations in the country.

Austria - Popular for its extraordinary skiing regions not only among Poles, Austria is worth visiting in the winter but not to forget also in the summer. Hiking routes lead through picturesque mountain scenery and due to the variety of hiking routes explorers, families, sportsmen as well as pleasure lovers will get their money’s worth.

Switzerland - Next to Austria Switzerland is another popular country where Poles like to spend their skiing holiday. People also have the possibility to go hiking or climbing in the middle of the most beautiful landscape here.

Italy - In the North of Italy people have the chance to go skiing in the Alps while Southern Italy and the whole coastline of this peninsula attract beach lovers. Northern Italy is also popular for its lakes, among them Lake Maggiore and Italy’s largest lake Lake Garda. Embedded in a picturesque landscape among mountains they constantly attract tourists.
