Recycling.

Despite the level of consumption catching up with the west at an alarming rate, Poland struggles with the concept of recycling.

Since 2002, the year in which the country introduced its recycling laws, Poland has been unable to efficiently monitor and control the recycling process. Although people at home, work and school are willing to segregate their waste, the fact that all waste goes into one truck is discouraging.

In order to comply with EU legislation, Poland is required to recycle 55-80% of used glass, metal, paper, plastics and wood. Already lagging behind, they have until after 2011 to reach this target.
