Higher Education.

Esteemed for its high standard of academia, Krakow possesses 15 institutions for higher education. The oldest and largest of these institutes is Jagiellonian University, with over 44,000 students.

Without question a broad spectrum of courses are taught at various schools throughout the city. Krakow’s finest schools of higher education include: the University of Economics, the Academy of Music, the Academy of Fine Arts, the Agricultural University and the University of Technology.

Higher education leads to a licencjat, equivalent to a BA, after 3 or 3.5 years; a magister, MA, after 4.5-6 years; and after many years of hard work a doktor – equivalent to a Ph.D.
