Poet, playwright, interior designer and painter, Stanislaw Wyspianski left an impressive mark on the Polish art scene during his relatively short life.
Born in 1869, Wyspianski became a recognized figure of the “Molda Polska” movement – Poland’s period of Art Nouveau – after spending time in Italy, Prague, Germany and France between 1890 and 1895. Wyspianski’s versatility can be explored in the museum’s collection of drawings, sketches, paintings, portraits, self-portraits, graphic art, furniture designs and interior plans. Stanislaw Wyspianski died in 1907 of the French disease – otherwise known as syphilis.
