Some people like to make a sport of comparing prices abroad to what they are used to in their home country – especially when it comes to beer! For such thrill seekers, Krakow is undoubtedly a winner with a 0.5l beer costing between 3 and 10 PLN or 0,73-2,50 Euro.
Generally, the cost of living in Poland is low. Typical prices include:
1 litre of milk 2,60 PLN or 0,63 Euro
Loaf of bread 2 PLN or 0,50 Euro
1.5 litres of mineral water 1,50 PLN or 0,37 Euro
1 kg apples 3 PLN or 0,73 Euro
0.5 kg pasta 4 PLN or 0,97 Euro
Cafe meal 10-20 PLN or 2,50-5,00 Euro
Restaurant meal 25-50 PLN or 6-12 Euro
Although many places accept the Euro, and sometimes even the dollar, the currency in Poland is the zloty, abbreviated zl or PLN. Banknotes can be found in 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 zloty. Coins, on the other hand, come in 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 groszy, as well as one, two and five zloty.
