Considered one of the most successful economic cities in Poland, Krakow has developed into an attractive hotspot for foreign investors since its accession into the European Union in 2004. Multinationals such as Google, General Electric, IBM and Motorola, as well as foreign retailers Carrefour, Ikea, Metro and Tesco, are all located in the city.
The property market has rocketed in recent years with residential prices moving rapidly towards a Western European level. And one cannot forget tourism – budget airlines flying into Krakow, primarily from the UK and Ireland, have lead to a boom in the tourist industry.
Centrally located, 60% of the city’s inhabitants are under 45. With its 22 universities, its diverse range of study programmes as well as its 190,000-odd student body, Krakow produces an abundant amount of highly skilled and trained graduates. Moreover, unemployment is considerably lower in Krakow than in the rest of Poland.
